It pained me to have to make the picture above, but the prospect of Melinda winning it all was just too good to be true. Melinda, the only person ever on American Idol to have never given a bad performance, was eliminated in favor of Blake and Jordin. America should be ashamed. Even her worst performance was leaps and bounds better than some of her opponents’ best work. She was a true professional — but I have a feeling that’s what did her in. Melinda was great from Day One, and that alone should have been enough. American Idol is a TV show above all things. People like to see TV characters evolve and improve — think Elliott Yamin, Fantasia, even Carrie and Clay — but Melinda was already beyond the amateur blossoming point. In other words, it was obvious she didn’t need America’s help to become a star — so America didn’t vote for her. End of story.
What happens now? We’re left with two vastly inferior singers duking it out for a title that has no meaning. The best has left the building. Now it’s amateur hour.
Melinda is better off without the heavy Idol crown. You will be seeing her again — mark my words. In the mean time, check out just a few of her fine performances below.
And now, a call to all my fellow Jordin-haters. It’s up to us, guys. Even though Blake sucks, it’s our duty to make sure he wins. Vote like your life depends on it this Tuesday. Vote for the good of humanity. Vote for Melinda.
I still can’t believe Melinda got the least amount of votes. No-Talent Blake should have got the boot. We all know that Melinda is still going to get a record deal, but she really deserved the American Idol title. Well I just hope that Jordin beats No-Talent Blake.
Shocked. Dismayed. Chagrined. Aghast. Disgusted. We are all of the above.
American Teenybopper, it is. Confiscate all the cell phones of people younger than 16 and Melinda and LaKisha probably would be the top two — and Melinda would win. Jordin would be an annoying and distant third.
Why are we surprised? Randy and Paula have fawned all over Jordin and Blake from the beginning. They asked for it, they got it. Only Simon had the brass apparatus to say he wanted Melinda in the top two.
I don’t think I can bear to watch the simpering finale, knowing powerful voices like Melinda and LaKisha’s were rejected as somehow “inferior.”
Oh. My. God.
As we might have said back in Barry Gibbs’ day …. Gag me with a SPOOOOON!”

I just think it’s to bad that the american people can’t hear .I guess the younger one’s want talent instead of music .I think Melinda and LaKisha should have been the top two
